Weighs up to 330lbs. and measures approx 12" x 12" and stands about 1 1/2" tall.
When first opening up scale turn it over and open the battery compartment. Remove the little plastic piece that insulates the battery and you are good to go. Note that right next to the battery is a switch for weight conversion. Just move it for kilos instead of pounds.

Was afraid it wouldn't work

I had been window shopping for bathroom scales on Amazon for months. After reading several negative reviews about digital scales not turning on or relaying inconsistent numbers, I was pretty convinced that I wanted to find a good, old-fashioned and dependable radial dial scale like my grandmother used to have in her bathroom. I put a few in my cart then saved them for later purchase. Eventually, I came back and almost bought the EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale w/ Extra Large Backlit 3.5" Display and "Step-On" Technology, but there were some reviews about difficulty turning the device on and inconsistency in the readings. I searched a little more and finally purchased this Sleek and Modern Digital Bathroom scale w/ Glass top.Now that you know my pre-existing anxieties, here's my succinct review.Quality: The scale is sturdy and the glass feels strong. I wouldn't guess that you could get a well-built digital scale for <$15 right now, but no need to guess any longer.Size: I'm 6'2" and 175lbs. It's a comfortable scale for me. It also works well for my moderately overweight family members. I would recommend a different type of scale with more comprehensive features for anyone dealing with serious obesity; it may be uncomfortable.Features: Speaking of comprehensive features--with this scale there are no frills. It gives your weight. You step on and it calculates. It blinks a few times to let you know that it's done weighing and the weight stays on the screen. Once you step off the scale, it will automatically shut off after about 10 seconds. It can give your weight in metric or English systems. The display is not backlit, so you'll need at least a dim light to see your results.Comes with: Instructions for weighing and cleaning as well as a battery. Just remove the plastic strip from the battery and you're set.Does it work?: It consistently gives my weight and seems quite accurate. For example, after eating and weighing, I'll show a gain of 1/10th of a pound. Weighing with different clothing shows different results, as should be expected. The machine has never weighed me more or less than a pound in difference over any given period of time.Bottom line: It works. And it works well. And that's what we want, right?
