Nice, Easy to Use, Convenient AAA Batteries

I like my new scale. I like the fact that it uses conventional, easy-to-find batteries, rather than a lithium battery. It lights up, and the numbers are easy to read. It looks nice and is easy to wipe clean. The price is great, too.

This scale is absolutely beautiful. Kind of in the way many Apple products are so aesthetic -- just nice to look at. I feel silly making a point of the aesthetics of it, but every time I walk into the bathroom I admire it.All that would be even sillier if the scale didn't work properly. I'm happy to say that ours has worked perfectly. You can step on it 2 or 3 times and it reads the same each time. I'm in the 280 range and it performs well with my weight on it.The only drawback is that it runs on regular batteries. I don't know yet how often they will need to be replaced. The display lights up very nicely though so even that drawback may be worth it.

Great ... for about 15 minutes

Scale was delivered yesterday and we put the batteries in right away. Hubby stepped on and was very happy with the accuracy. He weighed himself 2 or 3 times in quick succession, and the scale showed the same weight each time. Hooray!He weighed our 3-year-old (35 lbs.) then we left the scale for a short time. She wanted to be weighed again, so we brought her back a second time; this time, it registered 30 lbs. He asked, "Did she go to the bathroom or something?" A few minutes later, she wanted to be weighed yet again and it displayed her weight at 38 lbs. (Maybe she ran off while our backs were turned and ate a pizza?) Since she seemed so fascinated by it, we decided to show her how to carefully step on the scale and weigh herself. When she did, it started to scroll through many different numbers without stopping on one, then turned off. I removed her from the scale, and it turned back on and showed a reading of 17 lbs. when no one was standing on it.My husband stepped on the scale, and it again started scrolling through many (widely-varied) numbers without stopping. He pressed the KG/LB/ST button a few times, hoping to reset it, and that didn't work. He took out the batteries for about a minute and reinstalled them; the random scrolling continued. We replaced the generics with a set of new Duracell batteries, and again, that did not fix the problem.We were impressed by the high Amazon reviews. Maybe other buyers have had better luck than we did. Regardless, we aren't keeping a scale that malfunctions within minutes of being removed from the package. I contacted Amazon for an authorization, and it's already packed up for return shipping. We rarely send anything back, but Amazon makes it very easy ... this time that we're thankful for that!****** UPDATE ******Less than 24 hours after we received the scale, the seller contacted us by email, asking us to post a review with 5 days in exchange for a free product. We responded that we were returning the scale because it was defective. We received a reply within a day, telling us that they were sending a replacement. All they asked was that we modify our negative review if we were pleased with the new one. We were fairly impressed by the customer service! The scale arrived, and seemed to work well. This time, it lasted for THREE WHOLE DAYS before going haywire, just as before.Looking at all the positive reviews, I can't help but wonder how many of them have owned this product for more than a couple of days. And by the way, even though our review was negative, we did receive a digital thermometer in exchange for posting it. It was DOA out of the package, which at that point was just funny.
