The scale’s attractive tempered-glass top mounts on an industrial-style chrome base, and measures 13 inches across, offering a spacious platform to stand on. The scale turns on with a quick step onto the glass platform. A large 1.5 inch LCD display makes it easy to see readings without bending down. Weight readings lock and display for 5 seconds before the unit shuts off to conserve battery power. The scale holds up to 400 pounds and is covered by Taylor under a 5 year warranty.

extremely accurate but only if you know how to use it

My Taylor 7506 scale is extremely accurate. I have done a side by side comparison with three balance beam scales in the local hospital and the Taylor agreed with the balance beam scales to within less than 0.2 lbs (i.e. the difference was not measurable). I repeated this comparison on two separate occasions with the same results.However, there are 4 important things to know about the Taylor scale if you want accurate weight measurements.1) The scale is supported by four feet; the weight sensors are located under the two feet on either side of the readout and the other two feet are fixed to the bottom of the scale just for support. If you drag the scale across the floor (e.g. pull it out from under a cabinet) it is better to lift it by the end where the readout is located and drag it on the two fixed feet; this will reduce the risk of damaging the pressure sensitive feet.2) after moving the scale, the first reading may be off by as much as 0.6 lbs3) the scale remembers one reading and it will not change this reading unless you change the weight by more than 1 lb. This means that, if you move the scale you are likely to get an incorrect reading the first time you step on the scale; if you then weigh yourself repeatedly, this same incorrect value will appear every time you step on the scale. This memory makes it appear that the reading is repeatable (a desirable characteristic) but repeating an incorrect value is misleading.4) to get an accurate weight measurement after moving the scale, first pick up an object (e.g. a book) that weighs about 2 lbs and step on the scale holding this object; then put the object down and step on the scale again to get an accurate reading of your weight. This procedure will cause the scale to forget the first inaccurate reading after you moved the scale, and it will give you an accurate reading when you step on the scale the second time after putting the 2 lb object aside.My Taylor scale gives extremely repeatable readings in a series of measurements when I erase the memory between measurements by picking up and putting down various weights of 2 lbs or more. I find fluctuations only when the weight I want to measure lies between the readout values which are spaced 0.2 lbs apart.

UPDATE: Over seven years and it is still working on the same battery!I got this scale just for the "upscale" look. It's sleek metal with glass. They state that the lithium battery lasts a long time, so we'll see. It does take four rotations of the `zeros' to fly by before your weight is shown (to the half pound). It looks great and it's cheap. It's thick glass, so if your weight shows more than you expected, you can toss this sucker across the room and it won't break!

I've had this scale for over 4 years. It has moved with me three times. It looks great, and the glass design makes your bathroom look bigger because you can see through to the floor. It is a fabulous scale and very consistent. I don't notice any of the problems listed in the negative reviews and plan to buy one for my parents. I have noticed that it takes 1-2 extra tries when it's cold (below 50 degrees). My battery still works great after 4 years, and I use the scale 3-4 times a day. I love this scale!!
